Hockey Utopia provides a service at no charge to its members, and thus makes only a small revenue, and no profit. Employees of Hockey Utopia work on a volunteer basis, providing their knowledge of the sport and their skills in journalism and research to add to this service. Although Hockey Utopia can't offer a weekly paycheck, we can offer glowing recommendations for future employers, and can be an excellent reference on your resume. Despite its informal attitude, and internet basis, Hockey Utopia is a legitimate business that employs only the finest and most committed experts.

The following positions are currently available:
Sales Associate
Description: Hockey Utopia is actively seeking a sales associate responsible for the sale of web advertising space and for general marketing of the company. With the assistance of the HU staff, our sales associate will pursue business partnerships and marketing opportunities with similar websites, and advertisers for ad space across all pages of Hockey Utopia. This can be a second or part-time job, and you will work from home.
Requirements: Some experience is preferred but not required. A background in the business world and strong interpersonal skills are required.
What you gain: Sales associates earn 10% commission on the sale of ad space on Hockey Utopia. There is significant opportunity for growth in the near future with success in this position.

Associate Researcher
Description: Hockey Utopia's Associate Researchers scour the internet and other resources for the latest breaking news headlines and statistics from around the hockey world. They are responsible for maintaining the Fantasy 'hot and not' section, as well as keeping forum members up to date with the latest injuries, trades, and rumors. Additionally, researchers provide our writers with concepts for feature articles, and support those concepts with relevant statistics and information.
Requirements: This position requires no specific education, but applicants must have strong internet research skills, and a vast knowledge of professional hockey in North America and abroad. Researchers spend approximately 15-30 minutes per day "at work", and are expected to give about 2.5 hours of work per week.
What you gain: Research skills and experience are relevant in many jobs in a variety of fields. A positive recommendation from this position will be a bright mark on your resume no matter where you apply.

Associate Writer
Description: Hockey Utopia's Associate Writers are responsible for a broad range of articles from features to editorial, and blogs to headline news. Writers are responsible for ensuring that the Hockey Utopia home page is always fresh with new material.
Requirements: Associate Writers are expected to have a strong grasp of the English language with excellent writing skills. Some journalism background is greatly encouraged. Writers must submit at least two one-paragraph news items per week, as well as two feature articles per month.
What you gain: While improving your writing and journalism skills, you gain a terrific qualification on your resume. This is a perfect job for undergraduate communications majors, and requires very little time, relative to most unpaid journalism internships.

Fantasy Adviser
Description: The Fantasy Adviser position at Hockey Utopia is reserved for the most seasoned fantasy hockey veterans. Responsible for answering fantasy hockey questions on the forum, the Adviser also will assist in compiling preseason draft guides and player rankings.
Requirements: A proven knowledge of fantasy hockey is the only requirement for this job. Applicants will be asked about their past fantasy hockey experience, as well as quizzed on their knowledge and skill in the game of fantasy hockey. Advisers are expected to post at least 25 times per week on the forum.
What you gain: The pleasure of helping fantasy hockey rookies is the main takeaway of the Fantasy Adviser. Though successful advisers will receive good recommendations and may use HU executives as references on their resume, this may never be relevant to any future jobs.

Contributor (part-time)
Description: Part-time contributors at Hockey Utopia share their expertise of fantasy hockey and their knowledge of the sport with as little commitment as necessary. Perfect for the working hockey fan, this position gives you the opportunity to be active and help the site grow, while requiring very little time.
Requirements: Contributors are expected to have the same qualifications as associate writers, but are required to submit less work. As part-time employees, contributors are expected only to provide one feature article per month.
What you gain: The pleasure of helping your favorite hockey resource grow, and to share your knowledge and love of the game. This position can be used as a resume builder, but we do stress that it is a part-time role.
